Chandni has been weaving rugs for the last ten years. Living with her family of four residing in the Thanagazi district of Rajasthan, Chandni is passionate about creating rugs and learning more about them. She has woven some of our most beautiful Manchaha rugs yet and she loves to utilize her imagination in different ways. When asked, what she would like to become in the future, she immediately answers, “Best weaver!”
KumkumInspirited by the saffron-hued shades of the sacred red powder that Indians use as an imperative part of their worship, this rug is called “Kumkum” meaning holy red powder in the Hindi language. When applied on the forehead of an individual, this holy powder is said to impart blessings and protect an individual from evil forces.
The scattered crimson strokes woven on this rug are the end product of Chandni’s dreams and imagination. When she started weaving this rug, all she had in mind was to weave something that stands out to be different from the other rugs that she has woven in the past. After a few upward strokes, she eventually went on to find her way and create diverse branches in the middle of the rug. Her vision came alive in the form of this abstract rug with different dimensions of thoughts and design.
