Kanni is 35 years old and started weaving since the time when she was just 10 years old. Rug weaving gives her a chance to get transported to her own world of happiness. Be it an artisan original or a design map, she weaves them all with same love and passion. Though she can’t read or write but she showed utmost courage in replicating what her son wrote in English, ‘WELCOME’.
Deepavali
Deepavali is an Indian festival that symbolizes the victory of light over darkness. Kanni Devi narrates her love for festivities while describing the designs that adorn her rug. Rangoli, elephants, diyas and the bold ‘WELCOME’ weaved on her rug truly brings out the joys of Deepavali.
